Dow e Rio 2016 trazem o programa inédito de mitigação de carbono para o Sustainable Brands Rio e Virada Sustentável em SP

A Dow, Companhia Química Oficial dos Jogos Olímpicos, vai participar do Sustainable Brands Rio 2015 (de 25 a 27 de agosto) e da Virada Sustentável (26 a 30 de agosto) promovendo uma discussão com o público sobre o seu inovador programa para a mitigação da pegada de carbono do Comitê Organizador dos Jogos Olímpicos Rio 2016.

No Sustainable Brands Rio a Dow promoverá um painel sobre o tema no espaço Activation Hub no dia 26 de agosto, às 15h30, com as presenças de Tânia Braga, líder de Sustentabilidade e Legado do Comitê Rio 2016, e Guilherme Dias, líder de negócios da Dow para os Jogos Rio 2016.

O tema da mitigação das emissões da Rio 2016 também estará presente no painel da Sustainable Brands Pocket, evento que integrará a Virada Sustentável em São Paulo e será sediado pela Dow no dia 28 de agosto, das 9h às 13h. No intercâmbio entre SB Rio 2015 e Virada Sustentável, Júlio Natalense, líder de Tecnologia e Sustentabilidade da Dow para os Jogos Rio 2016, se une à Tânia Braga e Álvaro Almeida, líder da plataforma Sustainable Brands no Brasil e fundador da Report Sustentabilidade, no debate sobre a sustentabilidade nos Jogos Olímpicos. A Sustainable Brands Pocket também contará com KoAnn Srzyniarz, fundadora e CEO da Sustainable Life Media e da Sustainable Brands,  Fernando Pecoraro, CEO da Ambievo, Genet Garamendi (Vice-Presidente de Comunicação Corporativa e Sustentabilidade Solazyme) e Gui Brammer (Fundador e CEO da WiseWaste), entre outros.

 

Sobre o programa de carbono da Dow para os Jogos Rio 2016

Como Parceiro Oficial de Carbono do Rio 2016, a Dow vai mitigar 500 mil toneladas de CO2 equivalentes (CO2eq) provenientes da organização e entrega dos Jogos Olímpicos por meio de reduções verificadas por especialistas externos. Dow e Rio 2016 ainda vão trabalhar para gerar benefícios climáticos adicionais de 1,5 milhão de CO2eq até 2026, destinados a outras emissões ligadas aos Jogos.

A mitigação da pegada de carbono relativa à organização dos Jogos vai ocorrer por meio da adoção de tecnologias de baixo carbono e alta eficiência energética em áreas como embalagens para alimentos, agricultura, construção e processos industriais.

Dow e Rio 2016 ainda estabeleceram o compromisso de alcançar 500 mil pessoas em todo o Brasil – principalmente jovens – com informações sobre mudanças climáticas e dicas práticas de sustentabilidade para o dia a dia.
