A Enel Green Power (EGP) conectou à rede o parque eólico de Dois Riachos, que está localizado no estado da Bahia, no Nordeste do Brasil, e é a primeira parte do complexo de 118 MW de energia eólica de Serra Azul a entrar em operação.

Com uma capacidade instalada de 30 MW, Dois Riachos será capaz de gerar mais de 140 GWh por ano, o equivalente às necessidades de energia de mais de 70.000 domicílios brasileiros, e evitará a emissão anual de cerca de 14.000 toneladas de CO2 para a atmosfera.

O complexo de energia eólica de Serra Azul será composto por outros três parques eólicos: Damascena (30 MW), Maniçoba (30 MW) e Esperança (28 MW). Quando em operação, o complexo será capaz de gerar mais de 500 GWh por ano – igual ao consumo de cerca de 280.000 domicílios brasileiros – evitando a emissão de mais de 50.000 toneladas de CO2.

Serra Azul é de propriedade do Parque Eólico Serra Azul Ltda, uma subsidiária da Enel Brasil Participações Ltda. A energia gerada pelo complexo será principalmente vendida por meio de contratos de fornecimento de energia no mercado regulado.

A EGP está investindo aproximadamente 220 milhões de dólares na construção de Serra Azul, em linha com as metas de crescimento estabelecidas em seu plano estratégico atual. Este investimento é parcialmente financiado com empréstimos da International Finance Corporation, um membro do Grupo Banco Mundial; e do Itaú Unibanco SA. Ambos os empréstimos estão relacionados com a construção de parques eólicos no Nordeste do Brasil.
